Photo Gallery: Historic East Coast (USA)
by Thomas Theuerkorn
Living on the East coast of the United States has one significant advantage when on the look-out for historic sites. While not really competing with ancient sites from China, Northern Africa or Europe (in age at least); there is still a good bit of modern history to be observed in the area where the settling took place. Injustice to the natives and Civil War aside, most sites are well preserved. Sites like Charleston, SC and Collonial Williamsburg, VA as well as Biltmore Estate, NC and Old Salem, NC offer great insight in the glory and daily life of the last few hundred years. (In Europe, wars destroyed much heritage.) Below you'll find a selection of those places I've been to. (Of course this does not reflect what's actually to see but rather my small portion of what I've been able to document. The pictures below are free to download in the provided low resolution (typically 900x600). Feel free to inquire about higher resolutions (up to 8 MPx).
